  • Don't buy this I have had these in the past and have had good luck with them. Now they are obviously made cheaper and don't work from the start. I have tried everything to get statisfaction from the company but I can't give them enough numbers off the #%** thing. Everytime I call the person I get wants another set of numbers. They are hard to read and located everywhere. I bought a large deluxe model and a small one. They have never worked.
Save your money Poor build quality and design. Sensors and track get dirty and the rake runs back and forth repeatedly freaking the cats out. Used it for several weeks and abandoned it in favor of the trusted plastic scooper.
Just what we needed We needed something that could make a clean spot for our furry friends more often than we could as they were not happy with our onceaday cleanout. This works great. The only bad thing is the design of the receptable cover. Bending back the bumps doesn't always work too well and the filters never I mean never stick. However the rest works just great and we are happy with it.
good if you have a small cat works well. not very good if you have a large cat. tho my medium size cat makes do with its smallish size. we'll never go back to the old litter box. this is what we use in both our main home and our country house. both our children use them also.
Ours lasted 9 years! Ours lasted 9 years. Little music players with no moving parts don't even last that long these days! On our unit now the sensor seems to no longer work to tell the unit when to scoop. The unit will still scoop when we turn it on and off. This just happened this week. For the price and having it last 9 years I have no complaints. Our cat has loved it. We will be buying another one. If you want to save on the receptacles it's easy to cover them with a small trash bag.
Good Product I had one of these several years ago and recently replaced it with a new one. It is true that the product quality has declined in recent years. The rake does not reach the bottom of the box any longer the motor is weaker. Chalk it up to the old they don't build 'em they way they used to which is true of many products these days. However this is still WAY better than a traditional box and after much research I decided that this automatic box with the modification mentioned below is the lowestmaintenence option available.Be aware you will have to check it every 12 days to scrape any hardened litter from the bottom scoop any missed bits knock bits off the rake if needed add more litter and spread the litter evenly. This is NOT a complete litter change it will take 23 minutes and is much less work than manually scooping/cleaning a traditional box.
Waste of money Difficult to assemble and immediately broke. The little wheel on the side came off and then the machine jammed. Waste of money.
Works ok I bought this in 2004. it was one of the first brands to make auto litter boxes. I had it in the corridor & plugged in and it did serve me well for 2 years that I had my cat. It scoops the litter ok and dumps it in the compartments that seal hermetically and dont smell. I used to overdo it a bit though and the poor machine would dump cat wastes over and over for whole week before I get to clean it due to my busy schedule. But when I had to clean it it was like WWII chemical attach because of the entire compartment being filled with poops and pee balls.
bad sensors I bought my unit in November 2008. Now January 2010 and the sensors are not working. Littermaid will do NOTHING because unit is out of warranty. Out of warranty by a couple of months. Give me a break. I paid around $100 for the unit and now it is no better than a regular cat box.
It makes my life less stinky! Although there are several flaws in the design that have hopefully been fixed in the newer models.although it does still require SOME maintenance..I do like my litter box. It is nice to walk in the door after work and not smell cat poop. And I don't have to leave a second box out if I leave town for a couple of days.I have two cats and I dump the poop/pee tray twice a week. Once every day or two I rake the litter around because my cats tend to push it all over to one side of the box. Yes you have to sweep or vacuum around the box. Yes sometimes a little turd gets stuck in or behind the rake. I guess I just don't see that as a big deal.
