  • Great Litter for Younger Cats as well! When my middleaged cat got a UI I started using this for the same reasons you'd want to use it for Senior catsand have kept on using it ever since. It truly dampens the smell and the smaller crystals have the extra advantage of showing color change if there's a PH shift. This is not a diagnostic tool but can be helpful of warning you that there's an issue.
Really does last a long time We bought this for use in the roll over type cat litter box. Works very well and one bag will definitely last a month for our 13 pound 15 year old neutered male cat. Can't say I am completely satisfied with the odor control but it is as good as most others we have purchased that last such a shorter time that I will purchase it again. A bargain because it lasts so long.
Good for my little old lady cat My 17 year old kitty has renal failure and pees a lot. I follow the directions and change the litter every 2 weeks the bag lasts 4 weeks. So I use 1 bag a month. No smells if I change every 2 weeks and scoop daily. She hasn't had another urinary tract infection in months since I switched from Yesterday's News. Also I give her a dose of antibiotics Cipro once a week as a preventive but no subcutaneous fluids. I am very pleased with the litter and love the free shipping with Amazon Prime.
great mixed with precious cat clay litter Specialty litter for senior cats. As another reviewer noted very light and fluffy. Pleasant fresh light unobtrusive scent totally unlike offensive heavy perfumes of Tidy Cats etc. This is NOT a clumping litter I mixed it with enough Precious Cat clay litter to make it clump. Works great this way helps with odor control the Senior litter keeps clumps from sticking to the sides of the litter box and the litter box is not as heavy as with 100% clay. Both my cats were fine with the change. The only downside other than expense is the Senior litter generates more dust than the clay which the manufacturer says is an advantage the dust supposedly coats feces better. If you didn't like using 100% Senior try it again mixed enough clay to make it clump. Works great for me and both my almost20 year old cats.Tip mix in activated charcoal granules for even more odor control. When one cat developed extremely nasty smelling diarrhea the litter retained the odor no matter how often I scooped even with the Senior litter mixed in. Activated charcoal granules mostly eliminated this lingering odor and again the cats did fine with it mixed in.
Hooray Dr Elsey! I like this litter alot and I've tried all kinds. My cat isn't a senior but he's overweight so can't clean himself so well and although a shorthair cat he has longer hair around his butt. This stuff doesn't stick to it and doesn't track around the house like many others I've tried particularly the fluffy pine stuff clay litters and corn/corn cob stuff. I also like that it isn't depleting the clay supplies of the world doesn't promote yet more corn growth and like the bag said it's safe to inhale and doesn't promote bacterial growth as do the natural corn/wheat/pine litters.I don't have an odor problem with it and when it becomes more yellowgreen than mintgreen I change out the whole box. I do clean out the solid waste almost every day and if I can catch a clump of a urine ball before it dries I take it out. I also use a mat to catch the litter around the box and from his paws when he first comes out and other than that I never find it tracked around the house. It is more expensive but because it lasts fairly long I consider it worth it. I also use a Kitty's Wonder Box inside of a plastic uncovered cat box. The KWB is made of recycled paper and I think it helps with air circulation and hence also cuts down odor too. So after trying a billion systems I finally have one that works well.
Hallelujah Hallelujah! I have an older cat with long hair who digs like she's searching for treasure. I have tried just about every litter under the sun and none of them were low tracking not with this girl. Well finally I have found the holy grail. Thank you Dr. Elsey! The litter is made of a type of silica that slides off of the kitty's fur so they don't carry any with them out of the box. And it only needs to be a depth of one inch which is a lot harder for her to kick clear of the rug she steps on when she gets out of the box. This litter did not track! She didn't object to it in any way possibly because of the cat attract herbs in it. And it really does dry out poop fast and does a fairly decent job of controlling urine odor. I have noticed that it can clump if your cat likes to pee in one spot of the box every single time. Also there is a little dust with that characteristic chalky smell although it doesn't feel like you're going to choke on it which is a testament to the claim that this silica is more benign than most crystal litters. The silica also doesn't encourage bacterial growth which is a real plus over the pine that I've been favoring. The positives far outweigh the negatives.
ICK! Urine soaked litter spreads all around. I read the reviews for Dr. Elsey's various types of litter and in a 25 year attempt to find the lowest track lowest dust litter I decided to try this one on my 13 year old female short hair 8 year old male long hair and 1 year old sibling long hairs.
Not 100% Usage But I Don't See How a Litter Can Promise That with CRF My poor feral queen MaryKate is on borrowed time. She has CRF and one issue has been to keep her from avoiding the litter box. The poor little girl is in pain a good bit of the time these days. This litter is very soft is easy to clean out so it's not nasty and she doesn't go out of her way to avoid using the box when we use this litter. However her box usage is not 100%. Don't believe the label on the bag because you can't expect 100% usage from a cat who gets caught short because of age or illness. We would need litter boxes placed every ten feet or so for Missy Thing to achieve 100% compliance. Eww. Plus no matter how nice the litter is she'd much rather find a towel or a sweater dropped on the floor by my husband or my son and use that. No splashback gets cleaned up RIGHT away! There's no herbal attractant that compete with that. But this does a better job of getting her into the boxes we do have than the corn litter I used to use and loved because it was all natural and much less dusty. And a bag lasts about a month with two cats if you remove waste right away.
Precious fuzzy friends Since my fuzzy friends have been with me for nearlyseventeen years I search for the best there is to keepthem healthy comfortable and happy. I was so surprisedto see the senior litter being offered. I feel so assuredabout my choice. Precious Cat Senior Litter for my Precious Pals. Yours truly Sheela S.
Great litter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This litter is great so far it does not stink after use or turn to jelly. I have two cats. My one cat developed a urinary issue and it has drove me insane. It started when I decided to change the plain rock dust litter to a cleaner type. I used the paper pellet type because it was not dusty and seem cleaner but it was perfumed though my one cat got sick from it and so I tried best cat the corn litter that was a no go the other cat was allergic.
