Awesome product! I have asthma as well as chronic sinus infections. This stuff smells like baking soda. I say this because I have a 5lb bag of Arm & Hammer baking soda that I use for cleaning purposes so I do know what a large amount of baking soda smells like. This litter smells like baking soda because as advertised every granule of litter is coated in baking soda. After a week what it doesn't smell like is cat pee or poo. As my elderly cat can't manage stairs now we have to have her box in the kitchen so a litter that controls the smell was very highly desired. Prior to this product I used the unscented versions of A&H Multi Cat and A&H Double Duty. A&H Ultra Last controls the cat box odors far better than either of the other mentioned products. I will certainly buy more of this. I have 3 cats in total and cat allergies too. I love this litter and would recommend it to anyone who finds the smell of baking soda more acceptable than the smell of cat pee and poo. It also clumps hard and stays that way which makes it very easy to scoop.
Not for Asthmatics. We have one old kitty who we love and consequently we've been buying litter for way over a decade. To that end I can say that I have frequently purchased one of the variety's of Arm and Hammer litter whenever it was on sale. THAT practice stopped however with last Thursday's Ultra Last' purchase because it's made my son and I sick.Now I don't know whether they've changed the 'smell' component but our box did not smell anything like baking powder or in fact like anything nice. It smells overwhelmingly of chemicals. Like Beaumont Texas on a hot summer night. And after a day I had to have my husband take the unused box outside because it was overwhelming stinky. And worse it was making me sick.I have very mild asthma normally. But this product has me wheezing within 30 seconds of entering the bathroom.Can't be good for people or cats and I can't imagine it would be good for the ecology but for now there's no law dictating how it should be disposed of.Can't recommend it.
Ultra Stink When both my cats and I hate a cat litter it's a clear sign to never buy it again. I bought two boxes so we have endured the unpleasantness for far too long.I like Arm & Hammer clumping litter because it comes in a cardboard box rather than a plastic tub. I usually use the Multiple Cat variety but saw this on sale at the store and wanted to give it a try. I have one cat that is quite picky about his litter and he hated it on first sniff and let me know quite loudly.One part of the claim is true you will not smell any odor of cat urine or fecal matter. But from my perspective the smell that replaces it is even worse. There is a pineyperfumey smell that floats through the house sticks in my throat and is really horrible.If you do not have any scent sensitivity and hate the smell of cat urine so much you'd rather have any smell in its place this might work for you. But I'm almost ready to toss the rest of the box and start over with something else. But if you are sensitive to perfumes and other scents avoid this like the plague. It has a really strong scent.
Cloying I have to disagree with the previous review. I find this to have a sickening sweet odor that I can hardly stand. I don't know if I have a bad batch or not but the smell is offensive. Also because it's coated with baking soda it makes too much dust when it needs to be cleaned and scooped so much so I need to wear a mask or else it irritates my throat.
