  • great product but I do like this litter box but it only lasted two years the motor failed I through I would get at least 5 years out of it.
Didn't work for me I purchased this item after reading rave reviews from LOTS OF PEOPLE.. I don't think I read one negative so I purchased it even though it seemed quite pricey as well as the refill trays.. This was a gift to my 85 yr. old mother who loves her cat but she cannot clean the box and has to have someone do it for her I thought how perfect this would be. Wrong It turns out if you cat does not have solid bowel movements all it does is spread it out all through the litter and makes the biggest mess you can imagine. Her cat apparently has loose stools even though he only eats dry food.. It did not work period and my poor brother had to come over and clean it to return itBig mess. Glad it worked for someone but a lot of money to not have some warning that this might happen.
It's worth the spend My cats and I are happier with this item than with the old litter box but I feel like people should be aware of what they're getting into. Here is what I found. The Ultra upgrade with the visit counter was invaluable to transitioning my cats off the old sand litter box. If you try this product definitely go with the Ultra upgrade. I wanted the hood and that's why I bought Ultra but I also found the counter to be eerily interesting. I had no idea what my cat's frequency was like why should I need to right? This counter became an important indicator however through the three week transition period.
2 years and counting and If you gotta have a litter box I purposely waited to give this review 'cause this product seemed too goodto be true. So we have had this item for over 2 years now it still worksthe cat is still alive and after 800+ cycles is showing no signs ofgiving up..knock wood. It only works with the crystals and is only costEffective if you mail order on autodeliveryand scoop once a week one catstill pricey but worth it forCleanliness odor control and dustfree litter.
Scoopfree SX3 NOT SX1 as shown in description 1st off I want to say that I'll be surprised if my feedback isn't altered like two of my other honest feedbacks have been. #1 the description is misleading shows SX1 when it's indeed an SX3 which is important to note because the Forever rake won't work in the updated SX3 or SX4 models. #2 it was in poor condition with marks on it when it arrived and appeared either refurbished or like it had been sitting in a warehouse for many years. I'm giving it 3 stars simply based on the poor purchase from Amazon combined with the fact that I happen to own 2 of these and love them. They were both purchased elsewhere. I purchased the 2nd one from the same original place as my 1st one after I returned this one to amazon. So I would say buy the item but not from Amazon. I've purchased many things through the years from Amazon that I've been happy with including the 6pk refills for this litter box. And this is the only item I've rated this way after having this experience.
So Far I love it Except for 1 problem Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive to buy the replacement trays. Got the Scoopfree Ultra self cleaning litter box about a month ago and it works great. The only problem is the refill trays are very expensive to keep buying. I wish Scoopefree would make their own version of the Forever Tray since there are mixed reviews on that product.
Very convenient I purchased the automatic litter box because I have a very fastidious feline who will not poo in a litter tray if it has anything in it. Since I am retired I was able to monitor her box often and scoop out any waste soon after she used it. If we were away for several days however I had to be sure someone came to the house to clean the boxes. Otherwise she would have pooped on the floor and I had no desire to come home to cat poops scattered around. So I decided to try the ScoopFree self cleaning box. Overall it has worked fairly well and certainly has reduced the need to scoop out waste on a daily basis. However the claim that the tray doesn't have to be cleaned but once every two or three weeks with ONE cat is not true in my experience. As several reviewers have mentioned the holding compartment for the waste fills up very quickly. I find that I have to lift the purple lid and scoop out the contents from under it about every 3 days! If I don't the rake squishes any new waste which results in poop getting stuck in the rake. Additionally the compartment will not close completely which then promotes odors. So I do scoop out the waste about every three days and move the crystals around to loosen any wet spots. I haven't had to change the tray yet since I've had the litter box less than 3weeks. I purchased the plastic tray which I suspect will work very well so I don't have to purchase the replacement cardboard trays. The crystal litter is quite expensive but does seem to last and I find my cat doesn't track it around near as much as she did the clumping litter. Overall I find the ScoopFree automatic cleaner makes waste management easier and I certainly can leave my cat unattended for several days and not worry about coming home to a mess. But be aware that waste may need to be removed from the compartment every few days even before the tray needs to be replaced.
Not so Great I thought this product was the answer to all my pet woes Unfortunately the box was not the answer. I have three cats yea I know cat lady not withstanding and the reviews I read said it was a great solution. The problem is that it really depends on your cats. One of my cats likes to drink all the water up and then pee like it's going out of style. I noticed this when I went to the bathroom and he decided that was the perfect time to potty too and not to disrupt Mr. Fraidy Prissy Pants I stood in the bathroom and waited for him to finish. I was thanking HOLY CROW even I don't take that long to pee!!! So basically if you're cat or cats don't have super bladder then it just might work out great or if you only have one cat with a super bladder the box may still work fine. However with more than one cat this is just a waste of money. The reason is primarily that the box is not that big and there is not a whole heck of a lot of crystal litter in the box. You may end up burning through the litter a lot faster which basically means you're not going to spend the same time scooping litter but you're sure going to spend a lot more money on litter overall. I'd rather scoop the litter box twice a day to keep it fresh and buy crappy ol' clumping litter compared to this. Oh And bear in mind you're going to find an extension recommended with your purchase DO NOT DO THIS If you want to try it and it works great in your house then fine buy the thing later but I have effectively spent over 160 or so dollars on a litter box system that sucks for me and had I known that two or more cats could prove problematic I would never have bought that stupid attachment. Now I'm stuck with it and sure I'll use it since one of my cats prefers the stupid cat box. The attachment on this level is great because you'll pay less for the extension and cat litter over a years time versus buying the prefilled pans.
I would rate it 3.5 I've owned the Scoopfree for 6 months now and for the most part it does get the job done. I have one cat who is 9 months old and she uses it with no problem. We also purchased the disposable litter trays which we just used up last month. That's why we purchased the reusable tray which I regret doing. The reason for switching over was to save on cost my cat was going through them way too quickly so I thought this would be a smart way to resolve the issue. I was wrong.
ScoopFree Cat Box After using this for about a month now I have to say I am quite pleased. My boy is 8yrs old now and has used a LM since he was about 6 months old. With the LM I have the complaints most do Loud Jamming cat litter all over the house etc. One of the first things that impressed me about this box is when it cycles even if you are in the room where the cat box is you can barely here it whereas the LM always sounded like someone firing up a leaf blower also in months use now this box has not jammed once. This box can be expensive if you go with the disposable trays however I did a lot of reading of customer reviews and went with this box and the forever litter tray and Just the Crystals Cat Litter. The nice thing about this is one you will never have to worry about leakage and you can get to 8.8lbs of litter two changings for what it would cost you for one disposable ScoopFree tray. As I said I also do not have litter all over the house anymore a little around the box and that' about it. The suppression of Cat Box Smell is awesome and my boy took tight to his new box. Currently I am changing his litter every 34 weeks depending on the usage and stirring the crystals every 3 days or so so they can dry out.I have to say I think this is a great product and I am very satisfied and surely would recommend it anyone considering it.
